North Dakota State UniversityThe 2024 Rural Leadership North Dakota (RLND) program has been instrumental in addressing the leadership gap in North Dakota, where nearly 8,000 leadership roles remain unfilled in rural communities. By equipping participants with essential leadership skills, RLND fosters sustainable community development and civic engagement.

This year, RLND Class X engaged in hands-on learning experiences, including leadership assessments, policy discussions, and site visits to national and regional organizations. Participants enhanced their leadership capabilities through real-world applications, strengthening their decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills. Community projects further empowered them to create lasting, positive change in their hometowns.

The program’s impact is evident: participants report increased confidence in taking on leadership roles, a stronger understanding of public policy, and expanded professional networks across North Dakota. These connections and experiences will continue to drive economic and social progress in rural communities.

Feedback from participants underscores RLND’s effectiveness: “This program has given me the confidence to lead in ways I never imagined.” Another noted, “The connections I’ve made through RLND will benefit my career and my community for years to come.”
Through partnerships with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, local businesses, and the RLND Alumni Network, the program continues to grow and expand its reach, ensuring the future of rural leadership remains strong.
